Peter was Married!

It still blows my mind, how you can read, and be told things your whole life, yet still miss so many things.. The Word is soo jam packed .. so much! lol

So I was reading Luke 4:38
Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon's mother in-law was suffering from a high fever and they asked Jesus to help her. 30 So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.

So the first part that stuck out to me was wow..this woman was sick, and look at her response as soon as she recived her healing..she went right back to serving. How often are we healed from something, and we have to be drawn back to the Lord.. prodded and poked, moved back into the place of serving. But her immediate response to healing was service.

The I read it again, and was like.. wait.. " mother-in 'law" ? I didn't realize the disciples were married..like, we hear all of these stories, about them being together.. being with Jesus, following Him, etc...where was His wife during all of this.. then i had to check myself.. i always fuss about htis "marriage funk" where I see young adults who were once on fire and active in minstry , isolate themelves after they get married and "calm down" like.. yeah.. I realized, some of my ill thoughts towards that were in the wrong Spirit as well, (judgimental etc.) but this thought kind of supported what and how I was feeling. it's possible to be a fully devoted follower of Christ no matter your status. We tend to compartamentalize these things, family life, church life, Following Jesus, My own desires. But being a Follower of Christ is the Life.. that's life, everything else is a bonus or an accesory to the most important relationship and that's with Jesus.

  1. Ha. That's funny. I got that same etifinii...like, they had families and children and mother-in-law's...and they rocked the gospel with Christ. That's what I'm talking about. It is good to have that in front of us. We don't have to be it ALL, we just have to be what God called us to be and watch how he will make marvelous of us (our marriage, families and everythign in between) through Him.
