Jeremiah 17:8 (NIV)
8 He will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit."

Isaiah 41:10
ReplyDeleteI think about Joseph who spent 2 years in prison for something he didn't do and still didn't lose sight or hope in God and that's just one of the things he suffered for doing what was right. Talk about having no worries in a year of drought.
ReplyDeleteThis verse especially reminds me of Psalms 1. Actually its the same theme: Psalm 1:3He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yield its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
ReplyDeleteHow do I send out my roots, to the stream?
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness. They will be filled."
ReplyDeleteJesus is the stream of living water. He is the life force. Send out your roots means being in His Word. The roots take their nourishment from the water, which substain the entire plant. We take our nourishment from the Word, which will 'water' our entire being.
We have to stay rooted in Jesus. I will paraphase parts of John 15: "I am the vine you are the branches" "Apart from me you can do nothing." " If you remain in Me and My Word remains in you, you will bear much fruit."
When times of trouble come: the heat, the drought, the recession, personal attacks, hell and high water, in which some we have already been through, The LORD has brought us through, and will substain us because we are HIS.
